Hanging out with GOP owners Bill and Pat Langdon

We had an opportunity last night to visit West Chester, Ohio, a northern suburb of Cincinnati.  Does the name sound familiar?  It might because its home to the next Speaker of the House of Representatives, Congressman John Boehner (R – OH).  It’s also home to the Grand Ole Pub (GOP) – a new bar and restaurant dedicated to American politics and history.

The GOP is the brain child of West Chester residents Bill and Pat Langdon.  They noticed the large number of English and Irish themed bars, but couldn’t find one dedicated to America.  “English and Irish pubs will display the flag and memorabilia from either country. We wanted to duplicate that with an American theme, so we started with the Constitution, the Betsy Ross flag, the Boston Tea Party, ‘Washington Crossing the Delaware’…We just wanted to tell the story of America’s founding on the walls,’” says Langdon.

The Buckeye State is ACORN Free!

March 12, 2010

The 1851 Center for Constitutional Law is reporting that ACORN has settled the RICO lawsuit brought against them.  Under the settlement, ACORN agreed to surrender all of its Ohio business licenses by June 1, 2010. Further, the organization cannot support or enable any individual or organization that seeks to engage in the same type of activity.

The Center’s initial legal action alleged ACORN engaged in a pattern of corrupt activity that amounted to organized crime , due to its perpetual submission of fraudulent voter registrations in Ohio. The legal center sought the dissolution of ACORN as a legal entity, the revocation of any licenses in Ohio, and an injunction against fraudulent voter registration and other illegal activities.

How sweet is that!  ACORN is out of business in Ohio.
